FAQs: Adult Dog Vaccinations
Why should I vaccinate my dog? Vaccinating your dog helps protect them from serious and potentially fatal diseases, including parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis, and leptospirosis. It also prevents the spread of certain diseases to other animals and humans (in some cases).

In the UK, the core vaccines for dogs include: - Distemper - Canine Parvovirus - Canine Adenovirus (Hepatitis) - Leptospirosis Additional vaccines may be recommended depending on your dog's lifestyle or specific risks: - Kennel Cough (Bordetella): Recommended if your dog will be going into kennels, to a doggy day care or they are walked by a dog walker - Rabies: Required for travel abroad)
How often does my adult dog need vaccinating? After the initial puppy vaccinations, your dog will need booster vaccines every year. For their first annual booster: DHP & L4. We then vaccinate every 3 years for DHP and yearly for L4

What is the "Kennel Cough" vaccine and does my dog need it? Kennel Cough (Bordetella) is a highly contagious respiratory infection, often spread in places like boarding kennels, dog shows, and dog parks. If your dog frequently interacts with other dogs in such environments, your vet may recommend this vaccine.
Can my dog be vaccinated if they are unwell? If your dog is sick, it may not be the right time for vaccination, as they may not mount an effective immune response. Always consult your vet before vaccination if your dog is unwell.
Are vaccines required for traveling abroad with my dog? Yes, rabies vaccination is required for international travel. For full information, please see our travel information and T&Cs pages.
