Benefits of Cat Vaccinations & Regular Health Checks
Regular veterinary check-ups are an important part of keeping your cat healthy and happy. They provide an opportunity to ensure everything is on track with your cat’s wellbeing and to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

Keeping vaccinations up to date helps protect your cat from serious infectious diseases and reduces the risk of these illnesses spreading to other cats in the community.

Benefits of Cat vaccinations include:

• Protection against serious and potentially fatal infectious diseases

• Reduced risk of costly emergency treatment and hospitalisation

• Helping prevent the spread of disease to other cats

• Peace of mind that your cat is protected as they grow, socialise and explore

• Compliance with requirements for boarding, catteries and travel

Cat Vaccinations

Cats are routinely vaccinated against the following diseases:

Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Parvovirus)
A highly contagious and often fatal virus that affects the bone marrow and intestinal tract, causing severe vomiting, diarrhoea and immune suppression.

Feline Herpesvirus (FHV-1)
A major cause of cat flu that affects the upper respiratory tract and eyes, leading to sneezing, nasal discharge and conjunctivitis.

Feline Calicivirus (FCV)
Another common cause of cat flu that causes oral ulcers, respiratory signs and fever.

Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV)
A viral infection that weakens the immune system and can lead to anaemia, cancer and other serious illnesses. Vaccination is recommended for cats that go outdoors or live with other cats.

Health Check During Vaccination Appointments
During a vaccination appointment we also carry out a full health check, allowing us to assess your cat’s overall condition and identify any early signs of illness.

To support your cat’s ongoing health and wellbeing, we recommend a general health check every six months. These routine visits allow us to monitor your cat’s condition over time and detect subtle changes before they develop into more serious problems.

During a six-monthly health check we perform a full clinical examination, including abdominal palpation and assessment of the mouth, teeth, eyes, nose and ears. We also evaluate body condition score and coat quality to ensure your cat is maintaining a healthy weight and overall wellbeing.

Regular health checks are particularly valuable for identifying changes that may not be obvious at home, and they provide a good opportunity to discuss any concerns about your cat’s health, behaviour, diet or lifestyle.

If you have any concerns about your cat’s health, or would like to book a vaccination or routine health check, please get in touch. We are always happy to help and can arrange an appointment at a convenient time for you.
